Biography

Evangelos Matzoukas received his BSc in Mathematics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and his MSc in Astronomy and Astrophysics from KU Leuven, Belgium, in 2018. He subsequently worked on research projects in Laser Wakefield Acceleration using Particle-in-Cell codes, as well as in nuclear physics at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission in Karlsruhe.

He is currently involved in the RF 2.0 research project at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), working at both the Institute of Technical Physics (ITEP) and the Institute for Beam Physics and Technology (IBPT). As part of the Real-Time System Integration group, his work focuses on Artificial Intelligence-based accelerator tuning using optimization methods, aiming to develop energy-efficient and sustainable solutions that reduce the carbon footprint of accelerator facilities.
