Dr. Wescley Tiago Batista de Sousa

Biography

Dr. de Sousa is bachelor of Physics from State University at Ponta Grossa (UEPG),  Master and Doctor of Science from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in Brazil.  He has experience in Applied Superconductivity and currently is Researcher of the Institute for Technical Physics (ITEP) in the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany. His area of expertise is the development of suitable simulation tools for superconducting power devices. His doctoral project at the ITEP/KIT was supported by the Electric Power Research Center (CEPEL), National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Between 2015 and 2016 was Sub-coordinator of the Laboratory for Applied Superconductivity (LASUP) in Brazil and between 2016 and 2018, was lecturer at the Carl Benz School of Engineering (CBS) in Karlsruhe. He is also board member of the HTS Modeling Workgroup (the international group for the modeling of high temperature superconductors) and associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity Journal (IEEE TASC).
